Joe Wolter Clinics
The Horsemanship Clinic
Designed to create a comfortable environment where people feel confident to try new things and expand their skill level with their horses. Joe is known for his gentle and effective way with both horses and people. Joe's quiet demeanor builds confidence in the most timid of horses and riders while teaching lifelong skills and abilities. Riders of all levels, from green novice to professional competitor, will benefit from Joe's expertise.
The Colt Starting Clinic
A must for anyone wishing to train his or her own colt. Joe's quiet touch really shines in this environment where both the young horse and the rider are often uncertain and nervous. Joe's hands-on step by step instruction builds a solid foundation for the rider to be able to successfully continue their training at home. Instruction is offered both one on one as well as in group sessions. Age and experience are not concerns with most colts but if Joe sees that a rider is out matched, an alternate rider will be provided so that all horses leave with a proper start.
The Cow Working Clinic
Offers a quiet instructor, some cattle, and the opportunity to learn key elements of working livestock; Positioning, timing, pressure points, control, and horsemanship. The ability to work stock is secondary to the team work required between rider and horse. Horsemanship allows the horse and rider to blend together into one mind and work as a team. Putting the horse and rider up against a free thinking animal like a cow challenges both to work together to manage the cow in a manner quiet and pleasing to all involved, including spectators, the livestock owner, and most importantly, the rider and their horse.
Versatility Ranch Horse
This clinic will cover all aspects of the Versatility Ranch Horse Competition and will focus on the horsemanship skills that will make you a better rider and competitor. Joe will have you working on the “little things” that will make a solid foundation for you and your horse. In this clinic Joe will concentrate on one or all aspects of versatility, to include cutting, roping, cow work, trail, ranch riding and reining.
Ranch Roping
Joe Wolter is a pioneer of ranch roping clinics and author of one of the first ranch roping videos available for the public. With his lifetime of experience, he has a true insight into the Vaquero art of roping. His clinics are designed to help advance your roping skills, always with safety in mind. Learn the loops from the easiest to the most skillful, and learn to work with other ropers as a team while tuning your horsemanship skills and practical ranch horse maneuvers.
Joe encourages thinking as to the best methods, thinking that may not soak in until sometime after the conclusion of the class. Whether you ride in colt starting, cow work, or Joe's horsemanship clinic, Joe's subtle approach leaves the rider with the tools to enlarge his or her understanding of human, horse, and cow nature.
Here's our clinic schedule for the coming year and hope you can come join us. Please contact the host facility directly for more information on attending. Thanks for your interest!
