Clinic Description
|
|
The Horsemanship Clinic is designed to create a comfortable
environment where people feel confident to try new things and expand their skill level
with their horses. Joe is known for his gentle and effective way with both horses and
people. Joe's quiet demeanor builds confidence in the most timid of horses and riders
while teaching lifelong skills and abilities. Riders of all levels, from green novice
to professional competitor, will benefit from Joe's expertise.
The Colt Starting Clinic is a must for anyone wishing to train his or her own colt.
Joe's quiet touch really shines in this environment where both the young horse and the
rider are often uncertain and nervous. Joe's hands-on step by step instruction builds
a solid foundation for the rider to be able to successfully continue their training at
home. Instruction is offered both one on one as well as in group sessions. Age and
experience are not concerns with most colts but if Joe sees that a rider is out matched,
an alternate rider will be provided so that all horses leave with a proper start.
The Cow Working Clinic offers a quiet instructor, some cattle, and the opportunity
to learn the key elements of working livestock; i.e. positioning, timing, pressure
points, control, and horsemanship. The ability to work stock is secondary to the team
work required between rider and horse. Horsemanship allows the horse and rider to blend
together into one mind and work as a team. Putting the horse and rider up against a free
thinking animal like a cow challenges both to work together to manage the cow in a manner
quiet and pleasing to all involved, including spectators, the livestock owner, and most
importantly, the rider and their horse.
Joe encourages thinking as to the best methods, thinking that may not soak in until
sometime after the conclusion of the class. Wether you ride in colt starting, cow work,
or Joe's horsemanship clinic, Joe's subtle approach leaves the rider with the tools to
enlarge his or her understanding of human, horse, and cow nature.
Here's our clinic schedule for the coming year and hope you can come join us. Please
